Impact of home exercise program on self-efficacy and quality of life among primary knee osteoarthritis patients: a randomized controlled clinical study

Abstract Background Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a common joint disorder in elderly individuals, causing pain, loss of physical functioning, disability, and reduction life quality. Home exercise programs (HEP) serve as crucial complement to outpatient rehabilitation therapy, they save the cost supervised therapy sessions, while also offering high level treatment. The aim this study was evaluate effectiveness 6-month HEP on quality life, self-efficacy patients with primary KOA identify adherence exercises associations patients’ characteristics clinical outcomes. Results After 6 months HEP, there were statistically significant differences between groups for ( p ≤ 0.001, from 58.29 71.5) = 0.23, 55.98 57.72), ≤0.001, 60.1 72.2) 0.074, 60.35 60.92), pain severity P 41.4) 0.88, 61.2 60.9) favor group. Conclusions Home-based program improves score, self-efficacy, knee osteoarthritis. Adherence may have positive impact patient improvement.
